The Best Moments From Signing Day 2012

February 1st has become one of the biggest days for college football fans and coaches around the country. Hoping that the nation’s top ranked high school prospects will pick their favorite school, signing day draws so much attention that even ESPN will spend the entire day covering prospects’ live decisions.

There were some notable announcements this year, including the nations #1 prospect, Dorial Green-Beckham, deciding to forgo playing at a proven SEC team, instead selecting Missouri, a school that will play their first season in the SEC conference next year. DGB, a Springfield, Missouri native, was treated with this billboard after his decision to play at home. Yup, they’re excited to have the nations best.

The Denard Robinson Song (Parody of Mrs. Robinson)

The Michigan Friars sung a parody to Mrs. Robinson, by Simon and Garfunkel. The song doesn’t get going until the two minute mark, so hang in there. I wish I could sing like this!

W.V. Player Returns Fumble for 99 Yards and Takes out Orange Bowl Mascot

Could these college bowl games get any weirder?

Clemson running back, Andre Ellington, was going to punch in a touchdown. However, West Virginia’s defense and Darwin Cook were not going to let up without a fight. Cook somehow sunk into the goal line pile and stripped Ellington, before taking it 99 yards to the house. That’s when this celebration happened.

At least we got some entertainment from the Orange Bowl and Obie the mascot.

Did Refs Make Right Call Overturning Virginia Tech’s Touchdown?

Michigan snuck by Virginia Tech in overtime of the Sugar Bowl, 23-20, thanks in part to an overturned TD call. And, yes, kickers played a part in it, too.

Virginia Tech, who seemed to be in control mode all game, got the ball first in overtime. Danny Coale, on third down, somehow caught a 20 yard pass from Logan Thomas, with one hand. However, the play went to the booth and the refs overturned the original call.

Although it appeared that Coale was able to get his arm underneath the ball, the catch was called incomplete, and Virginia Tech was forced to kick a field goal.  Justin Meyer, who had previously hit his first four kicks,  missed a 37-yarder.

Michigan only needing a field goal to secure victory, ran a few running plays, setting up Brendan Gibbons’ line-drive game winning 37-yard field goal.

Even as a Michigan fan, it felt kind of painful to see the way the Wolverines played during the entire game.  With a few lucky breaks like the crazy fake field goal attempt by Michigan, which ultimately led to an actual field goal before halftime, this game could have easily gone the other way. In any case, it was a very tough way to go down in a BCS game.

Urban Meyer Bans OSU Players From Twitter

After losing to the Florida Gators 24-17 in the Gator Bowl, Ohio State, finished  the season 6-7, their worst record since 1988.

New Ohio State football coach, Urban Mayer, is trying to turn things around in Columbus, which happens to come at the cost of one of the biggest social-networking sites.

He is actually banning Tweeting. Unreal!

Here’s my suspicion as to why Meyer would take away Twitter:
