Serena Williams Crip Walks After Winning Gold in Olympics (Video)

on

Following Serena Williams’ dominant match on Saturday against Maria Sharapova (6-0, 6-1) in the Olympics women’s singles tennis event, Williams decided to do a little Crip Walking post-match.

Of course there were some reactions to the highlight of the match and Serena becoming the second woman to complete the career Golden Slam (winning the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open, plus Olympic singles gold).

Later today, Serena and Venus Williams play in the women’s doubles semifinals.  Here’s a link so we can all learn and do this dance with the Williams sisters after they, hopefully, win gold in that event.

“cripwalk”… really, that is about the most racist thing I have ever read. If she were white or asian what would it be then? Cracker dance?, slant eye jig?
Invoking the name of a deadly LA based drug and violence gang to be cute, not cool.

Oh shut the hell up, you are the one sounding like a little B_tch! It is a freaking dance that she did after she WON a gold medal. The fact of the matter is that you are really upset that she won, NOT the dance. Pathetic!

It is a dance that is called Crip Walking and that is what she did and that is what was reported. Nothing racist here.

What an embarrassment. And Art, you idiot, that dance was created by the crip LA street gang, hence the name “cripwalk.” It’s something ignorant black youths do to “rep their set” (gang) and it typically incites violence. The dance got inexplicably popularized in the early 2000′s by idiot rappers that represent much of what is wrong with contemporary popular culture. That’s why it’s quite embarrassing to see Serena Williams representing herself and the USA in such a childish way.

I think we are digging too deep into this dance. Here’s Fox’s response: “There was Serena – the tennis legend, the winner of 14 individual Grand Slams, the best player of her generation, the American girl being crowned at the All-England Club as the queen of tennis – Crip-Walking all over the most lily-white place in the world.”

“You couldn’t help but shake your head. It was as if Serena just couldn’t seem to avoid dipping into waters of controversy even as she’d ascended to the top of her sport.”
