Detroit Lions coaches have heated exchange during game against Packers

The Detroit Lions have had a tumultuous season and it is certainly not one that they expected or wanted.  They were thought to be a playoff contender before the season started, but now after 11 weeks they sit with a 4-6 record and no chance of making the playoffs.  To make matters worse the coaches are now getting into arguments on the sideline.

The man yelling is wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson, and the man holding the headset is offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.  It looks as though Jefferson yells, “Take him out.  I can’t do it no more.”  This clip occurred with 1:13 left in the 4th quarter, after QB Matt Stafford threw four straight incompletions, two of which were to WR Titus Young.  Then after this exchange, Young was benched for the final three plays of the game.

Young has been in and out of the coaches dog house throughout his short career in Detroit and it appears that more frustration is mounting.  Head Coach Jim Schwartz didn’t want to address the incident during his postgame interviews and the players didn’t seem to think it was a big deal.

In the heat of the moment, people get upset and I understand that.  You’re not going to get along with everyone you work with all of the time, especially when you’re in a cutthroat profession like being an NFL coach.  Lions fans should just hope that this doesn’t continue or it could be the start of a dangerous downward trend.
