Ryan Suter bats puck into his own net

During the Minnesota Wild-Edmonton Oilers game, a strange play occurred where the puck bounced out in front of the net and was batted in by Ryan Suter.  Wild captain Mikko Koivu was trying to clear the puck out of the zone and he fired the puck off Oilers forward Sam Gagner’s skate.  The puck caromed off his skate and started fluttering in the air towards Suter.  Suter instinctively took a swing at the puck to try and clear it, but hit it straight past his goalie Nik Backstrom.  Suter’s reaction is probably the best part of the video where he just looks up at the rafters and has to be wondering, “why on Earth did I do that?”

The goal made the game 3-2, but luckily for Suter, the Wild scored just over two minutes later to regain their two goal lead and went on to win the game 4-2.  Along with Ryan O’Reilly’s own goal, this should make the Not Top Ten plays on SportsCenter.
