Lars Eller gets destroyed on cheap shot from Eric Gryba

The Montreal Canadiens-Ottawa Senators series has gotten chippy early in game one and Senators defenseman Eric Gryba took it to a whole other level during the second period.  Canadiens forward Lars Eller got caught looking for a pass by his defenseman, and it was a total suicide pass.  Eller was looking back and as he looked forward, Gryba threw a massive shoulder/elbow right to Eller’s face.  Eller was down immediately and a pool of blood gathered around his face and eventually he was taken off on a stretcher.  Gryba was given a five-minute major for interference and a game misconduct; Gryba will also be facing a suspension for the play.

UPDATE: Lars Eller is in some bad shape and Gryba has been suspended for two games.

0:34, clearly see there was no head contact. The only reason there was blood was because he smashed his face off the ice. How they even called that interference, i’ll never know, he had the puck. I feel bad for him, but that was not a penalty, let alone 5 min.

There was minor contact to the jaw, blood from hitting the ice. Gryba should have layed off of the hit, Diaz should never have made the pass. Hope Eller is alright, and hope Gryba is feeling guilty. All this from a Habs fan.

Still a blind side hit (illegal) and went for the body rather than to separate the puck. Dont think there was malice, just a poor decision… but still suspension and warning worthy.

I agree anyone who thinks there was contact to the head on the hit is more blind then a dead person!

First off I would like to say awesome blog! I had a quick
question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I’ve had a tough time clearing my thoughts in
getting my ideas out. I truly do enjoy writing but it just seems like
the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted simply just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Many thanks!
