Shortly after the New York Rangers extended their lead to the cursed 2-0 lead, Dan Girardi’s stick broke while making a pass across the blue line. Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown picked up the loose puck and was off to the races. He absolutely dangled Henrik Lundqvist and buried the puck in the back of the net to shrink the lead to 2-1. It won’t go in the books as a shorthanded goal, but it might as well have been. You have to feel bad for Girardi, he’s basically cursed at this point.
