Cedrick Desjardins unbelievable glove save on Andrew Ladd

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been struggling this year and their struggles resulted in the firing of their coach Guy Boucher over the weekend.  They have had inconsistency in net so Cedrick Desjardins was given the opportunity to star just the 4th NHL game of his career (his 5th game played).

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien was doing what made him a star in Chicago, screening the goalie on the power play when Bryan Little ripped a slapshot that Desjardins stopped.  The puck squirted loose to Andrew Ladd who was completely robbed by a diving Desjardins.  Desjardins was pretty much dead in the water when he leapt across his crease in desperation to make the save.  Then he did a fantastic job of keeping the puck out of the net as Byfuglien tried to push his glove over the goal line.

This glove save has to be considered one of the best saves of the year, but unfortunately for the Lightning, the save wasn’t enough and they lost to the Jets 3-2.
