Brent Seabrook Injures David Backes On Dirty Hit, Gets Ejected

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook threw a brutally late and high hit on St. Louis Blues captain David Backes. Backes was out cold immediately and trainers had to hold him back from trying to get involved in a scrum. It’s a pretty scary and brutal hit for Seabrook to throw and the fact that Backes tried to get up and fight is astounding. I’m guessing Seabrook will be suspended for 5 games, following his five minute major and ejection from the game, and that David Backes will miss a bit of time.

Should be suspended, boarding, charging, game misconduct, elbowing. If one play can be placed into 3 or 4 different penalty categories, disciplinary action is required I feel. I’m not a big Blackhawks fan, but even still there was nothing legal about that check. Dirty and Backes is a pretty strong player, logically, I think Seabrook should be suspended as long as Backes remains injured. I feel like that’s pretty fair.
