Robert Griffin III leaves playoff game with knee injury

Robert Griffin III had initially injured his right knee against the Baltimore Ravens in their week 14 matchup.  RG3 did his best to play through the knee injury during the Redskins playoff game on Sunday Night, and on his first two drives, he led the offense down for touchdowns.  RG3 had been limping quite often throughout the game, and then this happened, knocking him out of the game.

The knee brace had slowed RG3 down, but it had been effective prior to this play.  Trying to scoop up a low snap, his foot looked to get stuck in the FedEx Field’s destroyed turf, and his knee bent awkwardly.  RG3 was unable to recover the football, and the turnover resulted in a Seahawks field goal, giving them a 24-14 lead.  Kirk Cousins came in to replace him, but performed less than stellar.

I hope for RG3’s sake that this injury doesn’t turn out to be serious, but it doesn’t look good.  Maybe he can have an Adrian Peterson-like recovery, but I wouldn’t count on it.  If I’m a Redskins fan, I’m very concerned about RG3’s future for next season.  Hopefully we will get some answers sooner rather than later.
