Andy Reid’s son Found Dead at Eagles Training Camp

The NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles were given extremely sad news this morning, as Garrett Reid, the son of Eagles’ head coach, Andy Reid, had passed away.

Eagles G.M., Howie Roseman, announced Sunday morning that 29-year-old Garrett Reid, the oldest of Andy Reid’s sons, was found dead in his dorm room at the Eagles training camp. Garrett was there to help the team with strength training.

Garrett had battled drug problems and had been incarcerated several times, but it doesn’t appear that the death was caused by any drug related reasons according to Edward Schupp, Chief of Police at Lehigh.

Schupp said a 911 call was made at 7:20 a.m, and also added, “there were no suspicious activities.”

Andy Reid took five weeks off for personal reasons from the team back in 2007 and was absent from the Eagles training camp at Lehigh University Sunday morning.

G.M. Roseman had this to say about the passing of the oldest of five children of Andy and Tammy Reid.  “From a football perspective I can tell you that Andy has asked that we go forward with training camp. On a personal note, we’ve been with Andy for a long time. He has always been strong for us; we’re going to be strong for him right now. As a father and friend, we are all hurting.”

This is absolutely tragic news. Prayers and condolences go out to Andy Reid, the Reid family and the Philadelphia Eagles organization.
