Jason Collins gets standing ovation while making debut with Nets

Jason Collins, the 35-year-old and first openly gay-player in major sports, made his debut with the Brooklyn Nets after signing a 10-day contract earlier in the day against the Lakers. Collins, who announced he was gay in an interview with Sports Illustrated back in April, received a standing ovation from the Staples Center crowd during Sunday’s game.
