Youth Hockey ref slams 12-year-old to ice during fight

Warning: Serious NSFW language.

On Sunday, a youth hockey game in Winnipeg, Manitoba got seriously out of hand after a fight when a referee slammed a kid to the ice. According to a report from Metro news, peewee teams from the Brokenhead Ojibway First Nation and the Sagkeeng First Nation as part of the Southeast Winter Tribal Days annual hockey tournament were playing in the semifinal game when a player from Brokenhead taunted the Sagkeeng bench.

The referee stepped him and body slammed 12-year-old Kainen Bell to the ice and Bell suffered a broken wrist on the play. Sagkeeng’s Stepahnie Tardiff had this to say about the incident:

“He should have easily been able to separate the two of them. Instead of separating them properly, he grabbed my player with both hands and threw him on the ice. “That ref should have never put two hands on one player. He should have put one hand on one player, one hand on the other player and separated them properly.”

This is a very serious incident and the referee is going to have some problems following the incident. Factor in the parent’s language in this video and this is another black eye for Youth Hockey.
