Yes, you read that correctly. A High School kicker hit a field goal that was 4-yard further than the longest field goal ever made by an NFL kicker. Austin Rehkow of Central Valley High in Spokane, Washington has quite a leg, and he only has a partial scholarship to Eastern Washington right now; there is a strong chance that will change now.
By looking at the video, it looks like the kick would have been good from 70-yards away. Even more impressive? He made the kick as time was expiring to tie the game and sent it into overtime; Sportscenter even put it as #2 on their Top 10 last night. I hope we haven’t seen the last of this talented kid, and I know there are plenty of college’s that could use a good kicker.
