Ryan Day Apparently Had To Have Security Around Home After UM Loss, According To OSU Player

Ohio State OL Carson Hinzman was interviewed on a podcast recently where he talked about the season, losing to Michigan which caused security to monitor Ryan Day’s house, how different Urban Meyer was as a coach, and how the Buckeyes OL doesn’t do that well with NIL. While the podcast on YouTube is now video, here is an overview:

* Unproven guys and the OL aren’t really getting paid at Ohio State.

* Some of the training Urban had them do, they can no longer do it or a coach might get fired. Urban had guys fighting 2 against 1 in mat drills. Guys were passing out and they would wake them with smelling salt.

* Coaches feel the pressure from the fans, so the players feel it from the coaches.

* OSU S&C has him eating 6,000 calories a day.

* Joe Burrow comes up to the facility to hangout a lot.

1. They don’t like to pay unproven OL, but other schools are paying 6 and 7 figures.

2. They view it as a developmental position that will take at least 2 years.

3. OSU just doesn’t throw crazy upfront cash to the OL position.

4. Getting NIL deals for offensive lineman can be hard, but the guys do have some deals. He has one with the Foundation and is working on a couple others.
