As ESPN’s Dan Murphy noted after interviewing the QB candidates, ‘reading between the lines’ he believes Wilton Speight will be the starter come week 1. A poster on MGoBlog.com – umbig11- also has some intel on the redshirt sophomore:
Speight has been given the keys to the car. I have it in writing from a respected writer in the business. I will release that next Saturday and give him full credit. Bottom line, Wilton has earned it and he will be our QB. I have a ton of respect for the way he has earned the right to lead this team!
Sam Webb of Scout.com noted in his Inside The Sub report that Speight appears to be the guy who will take the snaps under center when Hawaii comes to town. Likewise, in Rivals’ Inside The Fort, John Borton wrote that, while TheWolverine.com expected John O’Korn to be the guy, it’s believed that Speight has ‘all but wrapped up the QB competition.’
We’ll have to wait and see who the guy is next Saturday at noon in the Big House…..
