Michigan’s D.J. Durkin Named As A Possible Coaching Candidate At Maryland

Michigan’s defense has been outstanding under first-year coordinator D.J. Durkin through seven games. Having already gotten three-shutouts, it should come as no surprise that Durkin’s name is already coming up as a head coaching candidate.

Sports Illustrated’s Pete Thamel highlighted all the open (and possible) college football coaching positions, and also gave a detailed list of potential candidates. Durkin’s name was tossed around for the Maryland job (the Terps already fired Randy Edssal) and possibly the Indiana one, if it were to open.

FoxSports mentions Jedd Fisch, Michigan’s passing coordinator, as a possibility at Miami.

Likewise, former Michigan coach Brady Hoke, who says he wants to be a coach of a ‘Power 5’ school next year, is listed as a candidate if Iowa State, Rutgers and Purdue end up looking for a new coach.
