Samuels, who plays at Flanagan High School, has quite the connection to Michigan. Devin Bush Sr., who coached Flanagan last season, is now on the Wolverines staff. Likewise, Michigan landed three of his teammates in the 2016 class (Devin Bush Jr., Josh Metellus and Devin Gil. Samuels is ranked as the No. 32 player in 2017.
