Could Deontay Burnett’s Non-Commitment Mean Good Things For Van Jefferson?

Van JeffersonThings turned rather odd over the weekend in the recruitment of California three-star WR Deontay Burnett. While boarding a plane to fly back home, Burnett told his high school coach that he was going to Michigan and that’s why word spread. However, both parties apparently backed away once he landed back in the Golden State. Did Michigan pull the offer? Nothing official is known, but Scout.com’s Sam Webb has said that Michigan is no longer in the running for Burnett’s services ($).

Meanwhile, word is that the other WR recruit on campus last weekend, four-star Ole Miss commit, Van Jefferson,  really enjoyed his time in Ann Arbor, even calling Michigan ‘home’.

“It was great meeting with Coach Harbaugh, Coach Fisch and those guys,” Jefferson told Scout.com.  “It was great. Everything about the visit went well.  Like I said, this is home, so I automatically loved it. So now it just comes down to Wednesday.”

Jefferson, a Detroit native, will decide on National Signing Day. Webb is also reporting ($) that some new WR received an offer last night from the Michigan staff.

Things certainly have been interesting for Michigan’s 2015 recruiting class down the stretch.
