Brad Hawkins, a former four-star recruit, will be starting off his college career on defense. Jim Harbaugh said Friday evening at a satellite camp in Ohio that Hawkins will be playing safety.

Hawkins, a Camden, New Jersey native, spent last season playing for the prep school Suffield Academy in Connecticut.
