Florida State’s Vince Williams calls Northern Illinois QB Jordan Lynch “Terrible”

After watching Florida State and Northern Illinois play in the Orange Bowl, I’d have to say that I agree with Florida State senior linebacker Vince Williams.  After the game Williams said, ““He’s terrible.  I can’t believe they tried us like that. They tried our life, man. … He’s not good at all.”  Williams recorded 10 tackles and 1 sack.

Honestly, I don’t know how Lynch finished ranked 7th in the Heisman Trophy voting.  His stats were completely inflated from playing awful teams all year, having the 120th ranked strength of schedule is a good way to pad the old stats.  When faced with a real defense, he was 15/41, 176 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, while only rushing for 44 yards on 23 carries.  Just brutal.

Lynch did a lot of talking during the week, and his coach tried to bail him out by saying he was misquoted, but the damage was done.

Lynch said he believed the Seminoles hadn’t seen an offense quite like his. He added that he and his teammates wanted FSU’s defenders “on their knees” by the fourth quarter of the game. At that point, with them on the ground, the Huskies were going to “just keep pounding away,” he added.

That was pretty ill-advised to say the least, it motivated the Seminoles defense and they took it out on him all night.  They hardly threw any passes in the 4th quarter and still beat the Huskies 31-10.
