Alabama Governor takes issue with Crimson Tide play-calling at the end of the game

It has been well documented at this point that the Crimson Tide fan base was keen on Bama running the ball on fourth and goal instead of having A.J. McCarron throw the ball.  Obviously the ball was picked off, and their shot at beating Texas A&M and staying undefeated went out the window.

It wasn’t just your run of the mill Alabama fan that wanted them to run the ball though, even the Alabama Governor Robert Bentley chimed in on the matter, “I would actually have run the ball for four straight times.”  It’s obviously far too late for second-guessing, and you can drive yourself insane when you go over various “what if” scenarios, but I can’t say I disagree.

In a short field like that it’s going to be tough to get the pass play you want, especially when you don’t have a receiver like Calvin Johnson or A.J. Green.  Eddie Lacy is an absolute tank and even though he was stuffed on second and goal, I still would have given him a shot at it.  You have the best offensive line in the country, I would have just tried to get a good push up front and get it in the end zone with some old fashioned Power-I football.
