Trey Burke has been playing in NCAA Tournament with flu

According to CBS, Trey Burke’s father Benji said that Trey Burke has been ill and battling the flu during Michigan’s Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight games.  It’s hard to imagine that Burke has been ill and one of the most dominant players on the court at the exact same time.

After Michigan demolished Florida 79-59 and Burke told mlive.com:

“My stomach was bothering me the first game, I was about to throw up against Kansas,” said Burke, standing in a Michigan “Final Four” T-shirt next to his father, Benji. “Today my back was bothering me really bad, I don’t remember falling on it or anything, but my upper back was bothering me.

“It was hard to run and sit down and stand — but I’ll check it out and get therapy.”

On Friday against Kansas, Buke played 44 minutes, had 23 points with 10 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal, AND he hit one of the most clutch shots in Michigan basketball history.

On Sunday against Florida, Burke kept the momentum going and played 35 minutes and had 15 points with 7 assists, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.  Perhaps he should play sick all of the time?

The Wolverines are going to their first Final Four since 1993 and will be playing Syracuse at approximately 8:49 on Saturday April 6th.
