In preparation for Saturday’s Final Four matchups (Duke-Michigan State and Kentucky-Wisconsin), Facebook released a graphic showing which team every state is rooting for.

Here’s what Facebook added:

Ahead of the Final Four, 14 million people have generated more than 34 million posts, comments and likes on Facebook related to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament (March 15-31).

The Facebook data team looked at the four remaining teams and mapped out where they are liked – and where they are most talked about – across the US.

The first map is based on Facebook conversation; each state is color-coded to indicate which team was mentioned the most from March 15-31.

The second map displays which team has the greater number of Facebook likes in each state; the states are color-coded to indicate which school has the most official likes on their team page in that state.

Here are a few interesting points:

– Comparing the conversation map with the likes-based map, Kentucky is more talked about by people in thirteen states where there is a plurality of Duke fans: Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Vermont.

– While Kentucky and Duke are popular in regions close to home, in terms of likes, they also have fans in distant regions as well. The West Coast likes the Wildcats while the Mountain States favor the Blue Devils.
