With news of Charles Matthews returning (and all the NBA Draft entrees announcing their decisions), CBS Sports released an updated version of their 2018-19 pre-season rankings. Coming in at No. 21, 10 spots behind Michigan State, is Michigan:
“Even with the unsurprising loss of Moe Wagner, Michigan still belongs in the Top 25 (and one) — especially with Charles Matthews back on the roster,” Parrish writes. “(Matthews’) development under John Beilein, like most players’ development under the top-shelf coach, has been noticeable. Matthews could compete for Big Ten Player of the Year honors.”
