Notre Dame QB Everett Golson Exploring Graduate-Transfer To LSU

Everett Golson

After Everett Golson was replaced by Malik Zaire in the Music City Bowl, Golson has decided it may be time for him to move on from Notre Dame. He’s on track to graduate this spring and would be eligible to use a graduate-transfer waiver to head to another school. The SEC lifted their ban on grad-transfers last May and according to NOLA.com, Everett Golson has contacted LSU about transferring there.

More from NOLA.com:

LSU is exploring the possibility but would have to obtain a waiver from the conference office since Golson was declared academically ineligible for the 2013 season. The SEC rule allows graduate student transfers without waivers if the student maintained eligibility, had no significant disciplinary issues at the old school and earned all possible APR points.

Graduate transfers are required to make progress toward a graduate degree, otherwise the school won’t be able to apply the grad-student exception in that athlete’s sport for three years.

It would be an interesting dynamic for LSU to add such an experienced quarterback to go with a young, emerging defense. They could be an instant contender next season. I guess that Golson liked what he saw from LSU during the Music City Bowl.

Here’s what Golson has to say on the matter:
