Georgia QB Aaron Murray is leveled by Alabama’s Quinton Dial

Nothing has to be worse than throwing a horrific interception directly to Ha’Sean Clinton-Dixon and then getting absolutely leveled by a massive Alabama defensive tackle.  This hit was definitely helmet to helmet, but it wasn’t as much of a blindside hit as you might think.  If you look closely, Murray sees Dial at the very last second, but unfortunately for him it was too late to do anything about it.

Somehow, no flag was called. It’s good that Murray wasn’t hurt on the play, because the Bulldogs are going to need him in the second half.

A.J. McCarron was also drilled by Alec Ogeltree earlier in the game.

A very unnecessary hit and this should have been flagged as a personal foul, no reason for this to happen.

The author fails to point out that Alec Ogletree was flagged on his play, it wasn’t late and the video reveals it wasn’t helmet to helmet, it was shoulder to shoulder, but McCarron gets up and whines so they throw a flag. Also interesting that there is an official walking up as Aaron Murray gets leveled, about 10 feet away, facing Aaron Murray, and he does NOTHING!! Sure hope that Alabama player has to sit out for the BCSCS game. Hope the official does too. Was he the one that let Nick Fairley get away with so much?

Alec Ogletree was rightly flagged on his play because it was helmet to helmet on a defenseless player. Quinton Dial was rightly not flagged because of 2 reasons. First, Murray was moving to make a play. He was not defenseless just not paying attention. This is like a kicker on any return. Murray would have had to make a play if the tackle was not made 10 yards earlier. Second, Dial did not lead with his helmet as Ogletree did. He hit Murray with a shoulder. Why did Murray not say anything to the referee standing there watching it all? Because he knew the answer.

Are we watching the same videos, Glynn? You can clearly see the top of Dial’s helmet hit the earhole of Murray’s helmet . The reason Murray did not pop up and say anything is that he got his bell rung and may have been mildly concussed. On the hit on McCarron, Ogletree’s right shoulder hits McCarron’s left shoulder. Ogletree’s head never moves during contact, indicating his head never contacted McCarron. McCarron’s head snapped forward, then back, indicating a frontal hit below the head and a whiplash effect. Ogletree was running full speed and had exactly 1.5 steps to completely pull up and not hit McCarron. That is a borderline call, even in the QB babying NFL.

Alabama pays off the referees before each game for overlooking major fouls. It is time to end dishonesty and rackateering in college football or abolish the game altogether. SEC executives are guilty as well. Too, Nick Saban is not known for his honesty.

Alabama, the referees and SEC executives meet before each game and outline how it can be fixed to ensure Alabama’s win. Too bad it did not work with TA&M. Nick Saban has been paying off referees forever.
