UNC vs. Iowa State Game Ends Oddly after Possible Timeout Called

After DeAndre Kane’s game-winning basket with 1.6 seconds left in Sunday’s round of 32 game, UNC freshman guard Nate Britt dribbled the ball down the court and instead of shooting, attempted to call a timeout. The buzzer went off and the game was signaled over.

The officials then got together and deliberated by the monitor for about five minutes, and eventually deemed that the timeout was not called in-time. Britt probably should’ve just taken another dribble and shot the ball, as there wouldn’t have been more than .3 or .4 seconds left on the clock if he had successfully called time. Tough way to end a season for UNC.
