Michigan Assistant Named New U Of Detroit Basketball Coach

News is circulating that Bacari Alexander, Michigan’s assistant coach, will take over for recently fired Ray McCallum as the head basketball coach at the University of Detroit.

Alexander, who coached the bigs in Ann Arbor the past six seasons, will be returning to his alma mater.

Milwaukee Wisconsin hired LaVall Jordan, another Michigan assistant, earlier in April.

Alexander’s bio: Alexander played at the University of Detroit while current Michigan assistant Mike Jackson was an assistant coach there. He has assistant coaching experience at Detroit (under Perry Watson), Ohio, Western Michigan and Michigan.

Alexander’s time at Michigan: Alexander has helped the Wolverine program to four straight NCAA Tournament bids, including a trip to the 2013 Final Four — the first for the program in 20 years, followed up with a return trip to the Elite Eight in 2014.
