Lance Armstrong sued for not labeling autobiographies as fiction

Coming clean about his PED usage to win 7 straight Tour de France races was probably a horrible idea by Lance Armstrong.  Sure it will give him a clear conscience and was probably necessary, but now he has opened himself up to all sorts of lawsuits like the one below.

Two California men filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of the people that read his two autobiographies this week.  Jonathan Wheeler, a professional chef, and Rob Stutzman, former deputy chief of staff for former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, are the two men behind the suit.  They apparently feel as though the publisher and Armstrong are guilty of fraud and false advertising, which I’m guessing the publisher will put most of the blame on Armstrong for. From the New York Mag:

According to the complaint filed Tuesday, Stutzman isn’t happy about being tricked into reading. “Stutzman bought the book in California and read it cover to cover,” says the suit. “Although Stutzman does not buy or read many books, he found Armstrong’s book incredibly compelling and recommended the book to several friends.”

There will be a lot of money-grab lawsuits like this filed against Armstrong in the coming months, and it will be interesting to see how they all play out.  Armstrong will be losing a lot of money especially when the people he sued for defamation, when they tried to out him for doping, sue him back.  The mess with Lance Armstrong isn’t going away any time soon, and the long process for him is only just beginning.  At least this Australian Library is ahead of the game and has moved Armstrong’s books to the fiction section.
