According to CatsPause.com, John Calipari and Kentucky have reached out to Charlotte center Mike Thorne. Thorne, 6-foot-11 and 270 pounds, averaged 10.1 points and 7.3 rebounds a game last season. He would be eligible to play immediately.
While Kentucky is still looking at 2015 five-star bigs Stephen Zimmerman, Thon Maker and Cheick Diallo, Thorne could be a nice fall-back option.
Thorne has already seen Pitt and is expected to also visit Kansas and Illinois. A visit to Kentucky would happen after that.
