Strange bounce off the glass results in Washington Capitals goal

This isn’t the first time that this has happened in the Verizon Center and it probably won’t be the last.  The stanchions in the glass seem to stick out a bit more here, and the result is a lot more pucks taking strange bounces off the glass.  Capitals defenseman John Carlson was completely gassed and so he just dumped the puck in to get a change.  Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tomas Vokoun ignored the rule at the Verizon Center, which is to never leave the net when a puck gets dumped around the glass, and the result was catastrophic.  Vokoun realized his mistake almost as soon as he made it, tried to get back to the net, but fell down and could only watch as the puck trickled into the wide-open net. This is definitely the easiest and probably luckiest goal Carlson has ever scored. Don’t think Vokoun will be leaving his net anytime soon.
