Brad Staubitz ejected for spearing Brenden Dillon in the groin

This is the second spearing incident in the NHL in the last 24 hours, and I really hope this is not a new trend.  Anaheim Ducks forward Brad Staubitz tried to disguise his spear as a blocked shot attempt, but the referee was not fooled.  Dallas Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon returned to the game, but that doesn’t making watching this any less painful.  There has to be some kind of hockey code that you don’t spear someone in the nuts.  We’ll have to see how the NHL handles this and if Staubitz will be suspended.
