Joe Theismann: “Romo isn’t that good”

It’s about time someone stepped up and spoke the truth here.  I am 100% in agreement with Theismann on this.  Sure, Romo has shown flashes and is a decent starting quarterback in the NFL, but there is a zero percent chance that he can lead the Dallas Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory.

Theismann told the Dallas Morning News that, “Sooner or later we have to come to the realization that Tony isn’t a very good quarterback.  He throws interceptions that [make] you shake your head.  If it’s all the wide receivers’ fault then maybe he should get some new wide receivers, or they need to come up with some new route combinations that guys can understand.”

Theismann later went on to say that most people think that Romo is good simply because he plays for the Dallas Cowboys.  He made a great point though when discussing the receivers and when he mentions that people blame the offensive line.  Ben Roethlisberger has dealt with a horrific and injury plagued offensive line for most of his career and has ended up with two Super Bowl rings.  Tom Brady has never had any receivers that were elite and look at what he has done.

Great quarterbacks always find a way to win, regardless of the circumstances.  People end up making excuses for Romo when they shouldn’t, the game tape doesn’t ever lie.
