AHL Goalie David Leggio Decides He Doesn’t Want To Face 2-on-0, Knocks Net Off

Bridgeport Sound Tigers goalie David Leggio of the AHL had a stroke of genius on Sunday. There was a neutral zone turnover and the Springfield Falcons had a 2-on-0 from the red line on in. Rather than deal with the 2-on-0, and what would surely have been an easy goal, Leggio knocked his net off. He knew that this meant the Falcons would get a penalty shot, and immediately started pointing to center ice and signaling for one. The Falcons were awarded a penalty shot and Leggio managed to stop it. This was an extremely intelligent play on Leggio’s part and truly a savvy veteran move.

Unfortunately that wasn’t enough and the Falcons went on to win 4-3.

The overhead look of Leggio knocking the net off is absolutely priceless.
