Report: Najee Harris Nearly Transferred From Alabama After Last Year

Najee Harris, the No. 1 recruit in the 2017 class (who picked Alabama over Michigan), shared with the SF Chronicles that he nearly transferred out of Tuscaloosa after his freshman season:

That’s why he contemplated leaving Alabama after his freshman season, frustrated by sparse playing time. And that’s also why he ultimately stayed, figuring Alabama still offers the best path to the NFL.

“The only thing I can tell you is, I hope I’m on the field more,” Harris said. “Last year was the worst feeling. That whole season was mentally challenging.”

Harris, who had d 61 carries last season for 370 yards and three touchdowns, got plenty of action during the Crimson Tide’s run to a championship last year. With Damien Harris and Joshua Jacobs also on the team, Harris will be fighting for carries once again.
