Oregon Football Helmet VW Bug sells for $2600

This 1973 VW Bug turned Oregon Ducks football helmet unfortunately doesn’t run, but still should have cost the buyer more than $2,600.  For some strange reason the Oregon Athletic Department decided to sell off this awesome helmet car, and did so without much fanfare.

According to the listing:

This car is currently for display purposes only as it currently does not operate and it has not been driven on roads.  The item will need to be picked up from the University of Oregon athletic department.

It’s entirely plausible that the buyer is going to sink some more money to get this bad boy up and running and use it to drive to football games in Eugene next year.  The football seat covers with the Nike logo are fantastic and so is the vanity license plate that says “QB” on it.  Worst comes to worst if you can’t fix it up to drive it, it will make for an awesome display outside your house.
