Greg Mattison, Michigan’s defensive coordinator under Brady Hoke, was retained by Jim Harbaugh on the UM staff. Although Mattison won’t have the DC position next year (he’s now the D-line coach), he reportedly turned down a number of NFL and college positions to stay with the Wolverines.
Mattison is a very well respected coach having spent decades in the NFL and college. Last year’s Michigan defense ranked third in the Big Ten.
