Bizarre Technical Foul Costs Michigan Against Minnesota

In what could have cost Michigan an away win against Minnesota on Sunday, the Wolverines’ bench was issued a technical foul in a tight ballgame with a few minutes remaining. According to Mark Snyder, the technical foul was given because assistant coach Saddi Washington went on the court (Minnesota’s has an elevated floor) to talk to a player down on the end of the bench.

The ref who issued the technical wasn’t available to comment following the game:

Minnesota shot 41 free throws in the game, while Michigan took 18.

The Gophers would win the game in overtime, 83-78.
