Michael Phelps to Come out of Retirement, Swim Competitively April 24-26

Great news USA swimming fans (all of us): Michael Phelps has announced that he will come out of retirement and start competitively swimming again. The most decorated Olympian ever will race at the Arena Grand Prix at the end of April and looks poised to swim at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

The effect that Phelps’ retirement would’ve had on Olympic swimming could have been analagous with what Tiger Woods’ absence at the Masters was like this past weekend; not nearly as many people would’ve tuned in to watch. Now we won’t have to root for Ryan Lochte, either.
