Toronto Maple Leafs Fan Let Down By Leafs One Last Time At Funeral

It’s always a running joke in major sports towns with teams that haven’t won in a long time, “I want [insert favorite team here] to be the pallbearers at my funeral, so they can let me down one last time.” The Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t won a Stanley Cup since 1967 and the joke seems to resonate with their fan base quite well.

Terry Siebert, a 58-year-old from Hamilton, Ontario, decided he wanted to make this happen. He asked for the Leafs to have some players be his pallbearers so that they could let him down one last time, but it didn’t quite work out. So his friends that were going to be pallbearers decided to wear Leafs jerseys so the team could let him down one last time.

Siebert isn’t the first fan to request a team to have players be his pallbearers, but he’s the first to have this done as far as we know. A death is never something to make light of, but this had to give his family and friends some comfort.
