The Los Angeles Kings were a bit distracted on opening night with the banner raising and San Jose Sharks forward Tommy Wingels took advantage of it. In the first period, he buried this beauty of a shot upstairs with his feet nearly on the goal line.
Then in the second period, he picked up a loose puck and went in on a mini-breakaway and buried his second of the night past Jonathan Quick.
Quick sold out hard on the nice backhand-forehand deke. He must have been thinking Wingels would shoot right away with the backside pressure from the defensemen.
