Senators’ Chris Neil destroys Penguins’ Simon Despres

Halfway through the second period of the Ottawa Senators-Pittsburgh Penguins game on Monday night, Senators forward Chris Neil absolutely obliterated Penguins defenseman Simon Despres.  Neil was given a two-minute minor for charging on the play, despite the fact that he glided right into Despres.  The only reason this was called a penalty was because of the magnitude of the hit and the fact his arms finished extended.  Despres is listed as 6’4″ 220 lbs, while Neil checks in at 6’1″ 215 lbs, so the refs figured something illegal must have happened for Despres to get run over like this.  Despres would be fine, though he may want to keep his head up next time.
