Sam Gagner’s slick backhand toe-drag beats Mike Smith in shootout

Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Gagner has always been known for his slick hands and his awesome shootout moves.  On Saturday afternoon in a shootout with the Phoenix Coyotes he did not disappoint.  Coyotes goalie Mike Smith had absolutely no chance on making the save.  Smith bit incredibly hard on the fantastic backhand toe-drag that Gagner pulled on him, and Gagner easily tucked it past Smith on his forehand.  The Oilers won the game in the shootout and pulled to just one-point back of the Dallas Stars for the 8th and final playoff spot.  Obviously there is a lot of hockey left to play, but Oilers fans have to be encouraged by their team’s start this season.
