Maple Leafs’ Phil Kessel Gets Testy With Reporter During Media Scrum

Phil Kessel

On the day that his head coach was fired, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel wasn’t in the mood for dumb questions. Unfortunately for Phil, that’s exactly what happened when he was at his stall during a media scrum.

Phil was asked if he was difficult to coach and here is how he responded, per CBS Sports:

“I don’t think so,” Kessel curtly responded. “That’s a weird question to ask though.”

Dave Feschuk of the Toronto Star, the reporter in question, followed up with, “Why’s that? You’re the best player on the team, and if the coach just got fired …”

“You think it’s my fault? Is that what you’re saying,” Kessel said with a sarcastic chuckle.

“Are you difficult to coach?” Feschuk asked again.

“I don’t think so. I play,” the Toronto forward responded.

Maple Leafs PR stepped in at that point to cut the scrum off, but Kessel wasn’t done with Feschuk.

“This guy’s such an idiot here. He’s always been like this here,” Kessel said before walking away.

You can see the full video of the exchange below:

I don’t blame Phil at all for acting like that, especially if it is a guy who is always pushing your buttons for a response.
