Andrew Shaw slewfoots Valtteri Filppula in game 7, injures him

Detroit Red Wings forward Valtteri Filppula only played two shifts in game 7 against the Chicago Blackhawks before he was injured by Andrew Shaw.  Shaw went after Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg in front of the Red Wings bench, when Daniel Cleary and Valtteri Filppula stepped in.  Shaw then used his left foot and kicked Filppula’s feet out from under him.  Filppula had to be helped to the locker room where he underwent some x-rays and it was determined he had a high ankle sprain.

Good thing Pierre McGuire was right there to take in all the action and determine that it was a “good non-call by everyone.” Yes, Pierre, it’s always good when a slewfoot goes uncalled, no matter if that was the reason for the injury or not.
