Detroit Lions TE Joseph Fauria sprained his ankle at home last week and missed Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. It wasn’t clear what he did at home until Monday when he was made available to the press. It was then that Fauria said he sprained his ankle running after his new puppy that was peeing in his house. Only this would happen to the Lions, I swear.
From the Detroit Free Press:
“Long story short, I was at home after I went to go hang out with some friends on Wednesday night at a little volleyball event, if you guys want to talk about that, and then it wasn’t until like 11 o’clock, hanging out with my dog and he did something bad and he ran away from me,” Fauria said. “I wasn’t running downstairs, but I kind of like was doing it a little faster than usual and I missed the last two steps and my carpet goes to hardwood and I was wearing socks and I just put all my weight on my left foot and it was kind of in agonizing pain.”
“I heard (it happened playing) footgolf, basketball, I heard there was lewd activity, a bunch of rumors,” Fauria said. “I’m no stranger to rumors. I did get suspended from (Notre Dame in college). I know those rumors were around, too, so I’m no stranger to it. But I was there supporting my friends and it happened two hours after.”
Fauria said alcohol wasn’t a contributing factor to the injury.
“No,” he said. “I don’t know if they took my blood or toxicology report or whatever (at the hospital), but I’m fine. I was pretty sober, sadly. It wouldn’t have hurt as much if I drank.”
His puppy is pretty damn cute though.
