Jim Harbaugh on Alex Smith’s confidence: “It’s a lot of Gobble Gobble Turkey”

The San Francisco 49ers and their quarterback, Alex Smith, beat the Arizona Cardinal during Monday Night Football, 24-3. The often chastised Smith, had a phenomenal game, completing 18 of 19 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns.

After the game, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh was asked if Alex Smith had regained confidence in himself, Harbaugh responded as follows:

“I don’t think there was ever a question there. I think it’s just a lot of gobble, gobble turkey,”

The reporter then asked Harbaugh what he meant by “gobble, gobble turkey.”  Harbaugh responded, “Just gobble, gobble, gobble turkey from jive turkey gobblers. That paints a pretty good picture of it.”

It’s not clear why people would question Smith’s confidence, since the 49ers are 6-2 and Smith has managed the team well for the last two years. It seems like it’s a lot of “gobble, gobble turkey” from the peanut gallery.
