Donovan McNabb’s mom writes tribute song to her son

Even though Donovan McNabb retired from the NFL last season, his mom Wilma McNabb, is obviously still very proud of her son.  This song that she wrote, is meant to commemorate his career, and obviously show off her love for Donovan.  Wilma had this to say on her “Mama McNabb” YouTube page:

“This song has been ringing in my head for 13 years, while my son Donovan played as an NFL QB. As parents of an athlete you feel more than you see as you watch the game. Listen to the words, and I am sure you too will understand the emotions we get, when your heart is on the field.”

It should be mentioned that the song was not sung by Wilma.  It was sung by Tene Williams and obviously contains a lot of sports cliches and metaphors; not that this is necessary a bad thing.  This also isn’t Wilma’s first foray into the creative arts field, she appeared in a Campbell’s Chunky Soup commercial with Donovan in the 2000s.  Campbell’s Soup has kept this style of having mothers appear with their sons in their commercials; Victor Cruz is the most recent NFL player to do this.
