Wizards announcer mistake Ariza’s air ball as game-winning shot

It was a tough Tuesday night for Wizards announcers and fans against the Detroit Pistons. Down by one point with 12 seconds remaining, Bradley Beal threw a tipped pass to Trevor Ariza in the corner for a chance at a game-winner. Wizards play-by-play announcer, Steve Buckhantz, understandably thought Ariza’s shot went in and screamed, “DAGGER!”  Hilariously, though, the game-winning shot was in fact an airball and the Pistons escaped the Verizon Center with a one point win.

You can’t really fault the announcer as it did first appear to go in. Outside of the Pistons’ reaction, it was hard to tell if that the shot went in until seeing the replay. At least the two announcers played it off cool.
