Hornets Looking To Deal Lance Stephenson

Lance Stephenson signed for 3-years and $27 million with the Charlotte Hornets this summer. After 23 games though, with the Hornets going 6-and-17, the team is already looking to unload Stephenson according ESPN’s Marc Stein.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Hornets, just 23 games into the Stephenson era, have already begun the process of searching for potential trade partners that would be willing to take the talented but enigmatic former Indiana Pacer off their‎ hands.

Although sources say no deal involving Stephenson is imminent, Monday is the first day that players signed to new contracts in July are eligible to be dealt, which typically triggers what teams leaguewide regard as “trade season” over the next two months leading into the annual February trade deadline.

Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski notes that his former team, the Indiana Pacers, could be a potential suitor for the 24-year-old guard. Also the Brooklyn Nets, who have put Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez on the trade block. Would the Chicago Bulls be interested in acquiring Stephenson for Taj Gibson for example? Or the Cleveland Cavaliers for Dion Waiters? Stephenson, known for his solid defense, is a career 10 points-per-game scorer.
